Clinical Observation on Pneumonia

Abstract
|
|
|
A clinical study was made on 32 cases of pneumonia admitted at Chungnam University Hospital from January to December in 1976. The incidence of pneumonia among all the patients hospitalized during the same period of time was 2.6% and male to female ratio of the disease was 2.2:1.
Age incidence disclosed the peak in the seventh decade, and seasonal peak during winter. The causative agents were identified in 21 cases(65.7%) and thy major bacteria was staphylococci (42.8%).
The cardinal symptoms of pneumonia were fever, cough, sputum, chest pain and dyspnea. The duration of fever was less than 10 days in 71.4% of the cases, and lung lesion on chest X-ray was cleared within 10 days in 63.2%.
